Our team of web and graphic designers were recently asked to provide a design for schoolextranet.com, the new national educational software project of multi-national corporation Simon Holdings PLC. Schoolextranet.com constituted the latest in a string of assignments in which our designers have worked closely with Simon Holdings to produce branding for their various UK and European businesses.
The project challenged our web and graphic design team to produce a website which would appeal visually to a diverse audience including school principles, teachers, parents and students.
Our team also had to find a way to present an abundance of information relating to the product and its associated services in a clear and coherent style without muddying the concept or confusing the site user with too much information.
We elected to use a simple structure with a clear main navigation and a limited number of box features so as not to perplex the user or unnecessarily tire the eye. Much of the additional information is neatly tucked inside a sub navigational structure which can be easily accessed via a number of clearly labelled drop down menus.
We chose strong, clean natural imagery and a vibrant colour scheme to denote health, life and growth and successfully incorporated the project’s existing branding and colour scheme into the design.
We continue to work closely with Simon Holdings PLC on schoolsextranet.com as it grows and evolves.
