Internet marketing is a multi-faceted and complex subject, so here’s our guide to using link building to improve your search engine rankings and increase quality traffic to your website.
In order to implement a successful internet marketing campaign, you need to approach your SEO strategy from several angles; while good content and keyword density on your website remains a crucial element, link building has become ever more important according to search engine algorithms. By including link building and social media in your internet marketing campaign, you are effectively feeding the search engines with more reasons to rank your website highly – which in turn will generate more sales leads.
What Is An Effective Link Building Strategy?
So we’ve identified that link building is an important internet marketing strategy, but how do you go about creating links to your website? Firstly, you need to decide what page on your website you want the link to point to. Secondly, you need to make sure that the website source that you’re linking from is relevant to the content on that page. Once you have done this, you need to work on building those links!
Link building; Here are some of the most effective ways to create links back to your website:
- Online business and information directories – these can be free or subscription websites; try to use a variety of both.
- Blogs and forums – use your own blog to create links to related pages on your website and comment on other blogs too. If you use forums, you can often include a signature, which can be a link back to your own website. Make sure that the blogs and forums are related to your industry.
- Reciprocal links – contact related websites (non-competitive!) and ask if you can swap links with them.
- Supplier and partner websites – contact your suppliers or industry partners and ask them if they will provide a link to your website. You could even offer to provide them with a testimonial to sweeten the bait!
- Article websites – post articles on submission websites such as Ezine.
- Social media sites – create business accounts on social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook. You can link back to your website from your bio or business page, post articles with links to your website and post general links in your tweets and comments – don’t overdo it though or people might accuse you of spamming.
- Press releases – there are lots of press release distribution sites on the internet, some are free, others you will need to pay for. Remember that a press release should be newsworthy though, so make sure you have good content and a reason to post.
As you can see, there are many ways to take advantage of link building to support and advance your internet marketing strategy. If you have time, you can undertake link building yourself, or contact an internet marketing company to do it for you.
