Improve Page Rank For Your Website

Page rank; as a small business you’ve probably heard this term or had people ring you up and tell how they can improve your page rank by doing x,y and z for only how much a month?

What is page rank?

Page rank is the score Google gives to every website and is marked out of 10. If you have a page rank of 1 then that’s not so good but if you have a 6 for example, your site is doing pretty well.

So why does page rank matter?

Along with the relevance of your content (which we’ll explain in a future blog post), page rank plays a key role in your overall search engine ranking, and the higher you’re ranked for keywords and phrases related to your business, the more likely people are to find your website.

How is my page rank worked out?

The precise secret to this lies in the vaults of Google HQ, but it’s widely known that the quality of incoming links (sites linking to yours) plays a very significant part.

For example, you could have dozens of incoming links to your site all with a page rank of zero; these will do your page rank no good whatsoever as Google has placed no value on them.

However, if you have one quality incoming link to your site that has a page rank of 5, then that will do your search engine ranking more good than a hundred others at zero.

So how can you find out and improve your page rank?

Download the free Google Toolbar which has a built-in page rank checker you can use.

To improve your page rank you’ll need to invest the time in getting a good number of quality inbound links from sites with a high page ranking.
Hopefully this article has helped clear up the subject of page rank for you.
